Teen Dating: Setting Boundaries for Healthy Relationships and Avoiding Violence
One in three teens in the US will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before they become adults, and nearly half (43%) of college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors.
Love is respect. Love is not bruises, mental or verbal scars, love is not manipulation or ownership. Love is trust, kindness, and compassion. Many of our behaviors and expectations are sometimes influenced by what we saw modeled to us (e.g our families, movies, media, shows, friends).
February is violence awareness month in dating particularly in teenage relationships and with young adults. If you or someone you know is experiencing dating violence, visit the love is respect website for resources or support.
